  35. Have you ever had the desire to create a horoscope for you, your friends
  36. and acquaintances without being forced to go far out of your ways ?
  37.  
  38. If you are in possession of a computer with a version of Windows 3.1 and
  39. your printer is able to print in graphic mode, then you will be delighted
  40. by this program. The making of your personal horoscope then becomes pretty
  41. easy.
  42.  
  43. It is possible to produce the data on both the monitor or by using the
  44. printer. This all happens by full utilization of your Windows features.
  45.  
  46. The evaluations and graphical presentation of the horoscope can be printed
  47. in all of the various fonts and sizes. You can adjust the program to suit
  48. your personal needs.

  50. You can choose between three house systems; it is possible for all of the
  51. aspects to be individually selected and the orbs can be chosen according to
  52. your wishes.
  53.  
  54. The evaluations are divided into eleven parts which again can be either
  55. individually inserted or excluded.
  56.  
  57. For example: the graphical presentation of the horoscope, data presented in
  58. tabular form, planets in signs, aspects between the planets etc.
  59.  
  60. A complete evaluation uses about 30 pages of A 4 paper.  
  61.  
  62. The program functions well not only on a single terminal but also on an
  63. local network (Novell). The following data stocks come along with the
  64. version 1.1: two databases, one with the data of seven personalities, and
  65. the second with the data of about 1680 cities all over the World and a
  66. complete online help system with about 47 KB.

  68. SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS

  71. Usually if you run Windows these days it is a lot more practical to do this
  72. in the 386 enhanced mode with 4 MB RAM and hopefully with a 33 or 40
  73. megahertz processor, if not even on a 486.
  74.  
  75. The library "commdlg.dll" which comes with Windows 3.1 is used for the
  76. print controlling. This file should be installed in the Windows - system
  77. directory.

  79. INSTALLATION
  80. ************

  82. The complete package comes on 1 to 3 disks. Place the first disk in drive A
  83. and type

  88. The installation program will then ask you for the directory name under
  89. which the astrology program should be installed. The path "C:\ASTRO" is
  90. proposed as a default value. You can accept this name for the directory or
  91. of course change it if you wish to do so. Remember that there must be at
  92. least 1.8 MB available on your hard disk drive. In the very unlikely case
  93. that anything should go wrong with the installation, it is also possible to
  94. install the program by hand:
  95.  
  96. - Create the target directory that you want ( e.g. "C:\ASTRO" ).
  97. - Copy the data "astro01.pak", "astro02.pak" and  "astro03.pak" into the
  98.   target directory.
  99. - Change the .pak files into .exe files:
  100.          rename *.pak *.exe
  101.   These 3 .exe files are self decompressing ZIP files.
  102. - Start the three programs astro01.EXE - astro03.EXE ( the installation
  103.   routine does exactly the same as this.)

  105. Start Windows and include the program astro.exe into the Program Manager. You
  106. can find out how this works from the Windows reference manual. If at this
  107. point you need more help you can go directly to the online help system by
  108. "winhelp astro.hlp".

  111. PROBLEMS, TROUBLESHOOTING

  114. Most of the problems, which have so far been reported to me by users, are
  115. with respect to the printing of the evaluations. If the printer doesn't
  116. respond at all, then read the chapter 'Installation' in the online help
  117. system. If there are mistakes in the printout e.g. if the type font is too
  118. small, distorted graphics, the wrong character fonts etc., then read the
  119. chapter "troubleshooting / known problems" in the online-help. For example
  120. HP-Deskjet-Printers do behave quite funny if an old printer driver is
  121. installed!
  122.  
  123. In the case that the online system has not helped you and you need my
  124. support, then I ask you to do the following: print out the troubleshooting
  125. form "tblshoot.txt" and the ordering form "register.txt", fill them in and
  126. then send both of them to me. If it is a problem caused by a mistake in the
  127. program, then you will be registered at no cost.
  128. Although it must be added that this program has already gone well in the
  129. German speaking countries and initial mistakes have been rectified. So that
  130. you as an English speaking user are receiving the benefits of this improved
  131. package.

  147. The astrology program is a shareware program according to the decisions of
  148. the association of shareware professionals (ASP). You may test this
  149. completely unlimited working version over a period of 30 days. If you enjoy
  150. the program, then we ask that you please be so kind as to register for a
  151. fee of US$ 55 / CAN$ 65 / £ 35, since man cannot live by bread alone!

  153. You can print out the ordering form exactly for this purpose (program -
  154. option 'About'). As a registered user you will be automatically informed about
  155. updates and new products. Since we like to keep you happy we are working
  156. intensivly on extras coming along your way.

  161. At the moment, version 2.0 is in preparation - features including transits
  162. and partnership astrology (synastry with about 250 KB of evaluation-text!).
  163. Since Version 1.1 is not restricted in any way (!), the only chance for
  164. me to encourage users to register is to provide the latest updates only to
  165. those, who have registered. As a registered user you will be able to
  166. purchase version 2.0 in august/septenber 93 while non-registered users may
  167. get stuck with version 1.1 until 3 month later when registered users will
  168. already be in possession of version 2.1.

  170. So far the program has been sold on the German market for nearly 8 months.

  188. DEFINITION OF SHAREWARE

  191. Shareware distribution gives users a chance to try software before buying
  192. it. If you try a Shareware program and continue using it, you are expected
  193. to register. Individual programs differ on details -- some request
  194. registration while others require it, some specify a maximum trial period.
  195. With registration, you get anything from the simple right to continue using
  196. the software to an updated program with printed manual.

  198. Copyright laws apply to both Shareware and commercial software, and the
  199. copyright holder retains all rights, with a few specific exceptions as
  200. stated below. Shareware authors are accomplished programmers, just like
  201. commercial authors, and the programs are of comparable quality. (In both
  202. cases, there are good programs and bad ones!) The main difference is in the
  203. method of distribution. The author specifically grants the right to copy
  204. and distribute the software, either to all and sundry or to a specific
  205. group. For example, some authors require written permission before a
  206. commercial disk vendor may copy their Shareware.

  209. software that suits your needs and pocketbook, whether it's commercial or

  213. the product, you don't pay for it.

  223. damages, direct or consequential, which may result from the use of
  224. ASTROWORLD."

  226. ASTROWORLD is a "shareware program" and is provided at no charge to the
  227. user for evaluation. Feel free to share it with your friends, but please do
  228. not give it away altered or as part of another system. The essence of
  229. "user-supported" software is to provide personal computer users with
  230. quality software without high prices, and yet to provide incentive for
  231. programmers to continue to develop new products. If you find this program
  232. useful and find that you are using ASTROWORLD and continue to use
  233. ASTROWORLD after a reasonable trial period, you must make a registration
  234. payment (see above). The registration fee will license one copy for
  235. use on any one computer at any one time.  You must treat this software just
  236. like a book.  An example is that this software may be used by any number of
  237. people and may be freely moved from one computer location to another, so
  238. long as there is no possibility of it being used at one location while it's
  239. being used at another. Just as a book cannot be read by two different
  240. persons at the same time.

  243. ASTROWORLD within 30 days of first use or their license is withdrawn.

  253. astrological pondering, I'm afraid you won't be able to file a libel suit.
